A new research said that consumption of coffee helps to protect against auto immune liver disease known as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) that affects bile duct which leads to death or organ transplant.
Dr. Craiy Lammert,M.D of the mayo clinic in Pochesten minn and colleagues said that increase in chance of PSC was decreased to those persons who take coffee compared to those who never take coffee.
Dr. Lammert, said at digestive disease week that person whose drink coffee two to three cups per day shows decrease in reduced PSC change from 10 % to 13% for men and women. It also shows that there is improvement in bile ducts and liver disease.
Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and Primary Biliany Cirrhosis
(PBC) both are disorder of bile ducts but they differ in auto anitgens. Dr. Lammert and his colleagues done a research of diagonisins 724 Patients with PBC and 617 with PSC and 652 person without any liver disorder.
The study says that coffee consumption persons was similar for PBC group with 77% reduced in each group compared with 67% reduced in PSC group.
The number of coffee cups intake daily in each month reduced in PSC patients whose average about 47 cups and PBC 67 cups for month.
So the consumption of coffee lowers the risk of PSC but not PBC. These two disorders are similar but they differ in many genetic, clinical and biological differens. Lammert said that these study information need more explanation for the liver disorders to further studies are need for future study.
