Infants need adequate vitamin 'D' in their life to have stronger bone growth and prevents them from Rickets. Vitamin 'D' is crucial to infants during at their first age because at that time their bones grow quickly. In the previous study pediatricians say that mother's feeding is good for infants. But the mother's feeding do not receive Vitamin 'D'.
However, pediatricians suggest that to prevent unhealthy bones in infants, so that vitamin 'D' is essential. Prof. Hope Wells from the school of Dietetics and Human Nutrition at McGill University and Dr. Celia Rodd of McGill University of pediatrics found that 400 IU is necessary for a daily life to a infant till their first age. WHO also suggest a daily dose of 400 IU for infants in daily life.
The Canadian pediatric society says that in winter and summer the vitamin 'D' dose varies to infants. Because in winter the infants are less exposed to sunlight, so they do not get adequate vitamin 'D'. So in winter they need 800 IU Vitamin 'D' of daily dose.
The Research measured the infants weight length and
circumference of head after the initial take of vitamin 'D' and they also looked the level of Vitamin 'D' in blood at third month, six month, nine month and twelve month.
